Santa Clara County Independent Defense Counsel

You may be wondering what exactly the Independent Defense Counsel office is and how it really operates in Santa Clara County. From my personal experience, I have been able to figure out why it was created and the purpose it really serves. I do not like to sugar coat things and prefer to “say it how I see it” so that is why I have come up with my description of the IDO based upon facts, personal experience and extensive research. Santa Clara County Independent Defense Council Office consist of “Cover up Lawyers” that foot the bill for defendants whose civil rights have been violated and can’t afford an attorney. These cases are bumped out of the Public Defender’s Office that proclaims there is a conflict of interest with other available offices. However, this conflict is never explained and, under current policy, does not have to be.
